At $3k, these are not cheap speakers, but once you learn what is really inside of them, and what they are capable of, it is an impressive feat.Between the built-in amp, two very nice woofers, and a expensive electrostatic panel which is the result of 20 years of refinement, you are getting something very special. All of these features lead to...great sound...which is why you are buying these in the first place!
As for the concerns about the cherry finish - view this as a decision to spend the money on the sound quality and not on cosmetics. They don't look bad at all, but realize it is a vinyl cherry finish (as in, not real wood). An analogy would be the 'cheap' interior on the Corvette. There is a reason they can get $100k car performance out of a $50k car.Yet, when you are driving one, you no longer care about the feel of the plastic on the passenger air bag cover. If you are that concerned about the finish, MartinLogan does make speakers above these which feature real wood finishes.
If you love movies and music, these speakers will delight you.Forget the cherry finish, forget that you ordered them on Amazon.Set them up, dim the lights, and open your ears.
